About
Houston Art Tribe is a video series that focuses on what I like to refer to as "a seriously laid-back, studio-vibe conversation between artists". Although each episode will generally feature a guest artist who lives and works in the very large, Houston area, there may be future episodes that will address other topics concerning artists or the arts. These could form around such ideas as a round table discussion, or perhaps to feature a specific exhibition and/or art event.
Of course, to really get a taste for this, one will want to go and watch some of these interview/conversations on the YouTube channel. You may also wish to read the blog posts, which will give a little background or insight to various episodes, and much more. As always, I appreciate feedback, comments, suggestions and ideas, and please "like, share and subscribe" on the YouTube Channel so that our audience will grow and further benefit Houston area artists.

Who am I? I am Kay Sarver, a visual artist who had an idea somewhere in early June of 2018 to make some videos while visiting other artists in their studio, workspace and/or home to simply have this relaxed, "whatever comes up" kind of conversation.
Why? I did not know what direction this would take, as it started with the notion that I would need to make videos of my own process, my art, my studio, etc. for the set up of a possible Patreon page, which never happened. Without so much as my next breathe, I realized that I wanted to include other artists in these videos, and the whole process took a giant shift. It sort of became the continuation of a series of paintings I did a few years ago, Studio Junkies, which were portraits of Houston area artists in their studios. I knew these videos could take this idea to a new and rather exciting level.
For more on why, check out the Art Tribe Blog, which goes into all sorts thoughts, and reasons, as I am clearly learning along the way, and very happy that Houston Art Tribe was born!
